The University of British Columbia’s Creative Writing Program has produced some of the most incredible writers in Canada, the United States and beyond, making it one of the most respected and prized writing programs in North America. With both staff and students to be proud of, the UBC Creative Writing Alumni Association seeks to unite these word-slingers with a sense of community, opportunities to promote, and more.

Since it’s inception in 1963, the UBC Creative Writing program, both on site and optional residency, have educated, enlightened and connected countless writers. The program has produced Canada Reads winners, Giller Prize winners, BC Book Prize winners, and Writers Trust winners. Authors like Nancy Lee, Stephen Galloway, Lynn Coady and Zsuzsi Gartner are just a few of our prestigious alumni who have graced the halls of the creative writing offices.

2014 marked the 50th anniversary of the program, celebrated with a large event and publication of a collection of short stories by both staff and alumni.
